AssA-Irada 10/02/2005 15:45

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) rapporteurs on Azerbaijan Andreas Gross and Andres Herkel arrived in Baku on Wednesday. While in Azerbaijan, they will study the fulfillment of Azerbaijan’s commitments to the Council of Europe.

The PACE rapporteurs will meet with journalists, representatives of human rights groups, ambassadors from EU member-states, leaders of opposition parties, chairmen of the Central Election Commission and the Constitutional Court. They are expected to visit the state television and penitentiaries, and familiarize themselves with the plight of workers.

Gross and Herkel are also expected to meet with BP executives and head of the organization for workers’ rights.
