According to customs statistics, in January-June 2011, foreign trade operations in the region of Murmansk customs were carried out with 66 countries of the world – Germany, Belgium, Britain, USA, Finland, Norway, China, Lithuania, South Africa and others. The biggest economic partner of the foreign countries are the Netherlands, which accounted for 55% of the total foreign trade turnover. From the CIS foreign trade was conducted with Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Armenia.
The main exported goods are non-ferrous and ferrous metals and articles thereof; products of mineral origin. The share of food and raw materials for their production totaled 1.32% of the value of exports, of which 1.31% was product group “fish and crustaceans.” The main imported products are food products (including products of sea fishing), ferrous metal products, engineering goods (industrial equipment, special machinery, spare parts, tools), chemical products (raw materials for production processes, products made of rubber).
