AIOC Produces 5.2m Tons of Oil from Chirag

The Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) produced 5.239 million tons of oil from the Chirag platform in January-September. The company extracted 563,000 tons of oil from major Chirag field in September, BP Azerbaijan said.


In January-September, AIOC exported 5.157 million tons of oil through the Baku-Supsa western pipeline. 3.487 million tons of oil was exported in the first half of this year. The average daily oil production from Chirag made up 139,000 barrels in September.

In 2004, AIOC produced a total of 6.565 million tons of oil from the Chirag platform and exported 6.297 million tons of oil via the western route.

The AIOC shareholders plan to produce 134,000 barrels of oil from the Chirag platform daily. The figure was 132,000 barrels against the planned 125,000 barrels last year.

There are currently 19 wells on the Chirag platform, including 15 production and 4 water injection wells.
