President of Armenia SERZH SARGSYAN took 22 February a delegation of deputies who arrived in Armenia to participate in the meeting of the Commission on the social, educational, cultural and civil society of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Evronesta. After welcoming the guest, the head of State stressed the fact that Armenia has from the outset supported the formation of a parliamentary platform for cooperation among the countries of the EU and its eastern neighbours, Evronesta and believes that it could be a complementary tool to move the Eastern partner “and the development of regional cooperation.
According to Sargsyan, chosen the path of European integration after independence and confessing the same values of Armenia ready to as a result of the reforms to come back to the origins of the values, the bearer of the Armenian people, and today is a common Europe. In this context the President noted the importance of close cooperation with partners and support them.
During the meeting, SERZH SARGSYAN also responded to questions from members of Parliament, relating to the Organization and conduct of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia, development cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, as well as with the reforms and the position of Armenia regarding the process of settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
It should be noted that the Parliamentary Assembly Evronesta was founded in May 2011, as the parliamentary dimension of the ‘ Eastern partnership ‘, the aim of which is to strengthen ties between the EU and the eastern neighbours Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
For the first time outside the European meeting of the Standing Committee on social, educational, cultural and civil society Evronesta Parliamentary Assembly takes place in Erevan on 22-23 February.
