Estonian Minister of education: to increase teachers ‘ salaries, must close more gymnasiums

The only way to solve the problems of gymnasium education and salaries of teachers-a significant decrease in the number of school establishments throughout Estonia. Such a statement issued today, 26 January, the Minister of education of Estonia, Member of the Union of right-wing parties “Fatherland-res” Jaak Aaviksoo Audience at the Conference “State, local governments, and entrepreneurship in education”. As reported BakuToday the organizers of the Conference, the Minister noted that today the main example for gymnasiums are vocational, which over the last decade have made noticeable step in its development forward by a sharp decline in their number from 100 to 33. According to him, the decline in the number of gymnasiums in Estonia, particularly those that are located in small locations, will increase the competition remaining and significantly enhance the struggle for high-quality teachers, schools and their salary.

As we have informed, earlier Aavikssoo, stated that the total number of gymnasiums in Estonia to deal with the problems of gimnazičesokgo education and salaries of teachers should be reduced from the current 220 to 54, which is 75%. Teachers Union of Estonia is preparing to strike in February to raise an all-Republican for teachers at 20% of salary. The last time teachers ‘ salaries were increased in 2008 year. The Government argues that money to increase wages in the budget.
