Association of Lithuanian publishers together with the Confederation of Lithuanian industrialists appealed to the leadership of the Seimas of Lithuania at the decrease in the value added tax for media reported today, February 1, BakuToday in the press centre of the PEC.
Businessmen are asked to include in the agenda of the spring parliamentary session, amendments to the law on taxes, which would have reduced VAT for printed media from 21% to 6% for books from 21% to 5%, and for children’s literature-to 0%.
Publishers once again stressed that the printing of periodicals abroad is becoming more lucrative than in Lithuania. “The Lithuanian neighbours Russia and Belarus to newspapers and other periodicals have tax 10% lower than in Lithuania,” notes in circulation in the Parliament.
As already stated BakuToday, lithuania’s publishers, not once noted that “the Lithuanian media profitable to print anywhere, not only in Lithuania”. Maximum VAT for printed media in Lithuania was established in December 2008.
