Today, 14 July, the Ministry of Social Affairs of Estonia was signed by the Estonian-Russian agreement on cooperation in the field of pension insurance. It is noted that the new contract will ensure the continuation of the pension the pensioner when moving from Estonia to Russia and vice versa, and will promote the rights of citizens of Russia, Estonia, as well as those of statelessness, received pensionable service in Estonia and Russia.
The new treaty replaces in effect since 1993 interim agreement on social security, the validity of which, like the protocol attached to it, expire on 15 October this year, and will be crucial for resolving all issues related to pensions and social benefits for pensioners – the citizens the two countries. So, with the signing of a long settled controversial issue of military pensioners – citizens of Russia, as well as offsetting the pension age for those individuals who have worked in two states and is now retired in one of them. Also, the new agreement addressed the issue of pension insurance permanent residents of Estonia with the status of “non-citizens.”
As reported in an interview Pevkur Estonian radio, according to a new contract, if the person worked in Russia, coming to live in retirement in Estonia, the pension he will pay the Russian side in accordance with Russian law.
