The Governor of St. Petersburg invited trade unions to look at the problems of small business

Today, 26 January, the Governor of St. Petersburg, Georgy Poltavchenko met with activists of public organization Interregional St. Petersburg and Leningrad oblast Union of organizations of trade unions “Leningrad Federation of trade unions”, correspondent BakuToday with reference to the press service of the Smolny.

At the meeting, attended by the Chairman of Leningrad Trade Union Federation Vladimir Derbin, as well as the heads of sectoral and territorial trade unions, to discuss the interaction between city government and trade unions in addressing social and economic challenges.

Georgy Poltavchenko noted that between the executive authorities of the city and the trade unions built partnerships. “We are acting together in the interests of citizens, we have common goals and objectives of ensuring social stability, improve the quality of life of Petersburgers”,-said the Governor. The Governor noted that tripartite agreements, which the Government of Saint Petersburg for many years, signed with trade unions and employers is an important and efficient tool that has a positive impact on social and economic situation.

Brothers invited trade unions to intensify its work in the field of small and medium-sized businesses, where often there are violations of labor rights of workers.

Georgy Poltavchenko agreed that the city needed a “law on labour protection”, and for his development of a joint working group will be created. Union representatives were also concerned about the consistent wage gap between federal and municipal employees of budgetary institutions. Georgy Poltavchenko reported that the City Government will be treated to the leadership of the country.

It should be noted that trade unions in Saint Petersburg regularly enter into battle with employers over workers ‘ rights, usually in large enterprises of foreign corporations. From 12 to 16 January at the entrance to the Brewery “Hejniken” branch was held a hunger strike, trade union leaders of the two primary organizations-”Union of the agro-industrial complex” and “solidarity”. Workers demanded to withdraw disciplinary sanctions, which imposed on participants guide brewery strikes, at the end of 2011.
